Geoffrey M. Wayne
Geoffrey Mark Wayne attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida for three years majoring in Accounting and minoring in Economics. He graduated from Florida International University in Miami, Florida with a B.S. in Accounting in May of 1975. Upon graduation Geoffrey moved to New York City where he worked as an accountant at Nichimen Ltd., a worldwide Japanese trading company. He worked directly with the Controller as one of the few non-Japanese employees. As he advanced at Nichimen, it became apparent that if he wished to attend law school in the evenings, he would need to adjust his work schedule to accommodate evening classes. Geoffrey joined United Press International, the veteran worldwide wire service, as an accountant in 1976. At that time, he entered New York Law School in their evening program. While still in law school, he purchased a 19th century industrial building in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, converted it to cooperative ownership, renovated the building and sold the individual floors as residential loft units. Upon graduation from law school, Geoffrey returned to Miami, Florida and entered the University of Miami Masters of Law (LLM) program in Taxation. Geoffrey was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1981 and joined KPMG (then known as Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co.) as an accountant. In 1983 he joined a local tax “boutique” law firm eventually becoming a partner and founded Geoffrey M. Wayne, P.A. in 1991.
